Easter and Spring Break on Hilton Head Island

2 Men with fish

We’ll be having a “Hopping Good Time” on Hilton Head Island in March as we enjoy the celebration of Easter on the Island. This year Easter falls on March 27th , but did you ever wonder why we sometimes celebrate Easter in March and yet in other months it can be as late as the end of April?

The fact is, the day and date of Easter does change each year and it is all dependent on the date that we see The Paschal Full Moon, the first Ecclesiastical Full Moon date after March 20, which happened to be the vernal equinox date in 325 AD. Because of this, Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday immediately following the Paschal Full Moon.

The Paschal Full Moon can vary as much as two days from the date of the actual full moon, with dates ranging from March 21 to April 18. As a result, Easter dates can range from March 22 through April 25 and is always celebrated on the Sunday immediately following the Paschal Full Moon.
