2018 General Information. Guiding is a fun and challenging experience. Prior experience is not necessary. Candidates are required to successfully complete our 5-day Outside Guide Training Course. Coursework includes kayaking skills, safety skills, basics of interpretive naturalism, ecology, history, and environmental awareness. We also cover public relations and leadership skills. Originally designed to train specifically for our guided kayak nature tour programs, it has evolved to become a comprehensive training for the full range of our programs — from kayak, boat, and land-based tours. All new staff, regardless of intended positions, are required to successfully complete this program.

(The balance covers books, training materials and a uniform, which are yours to keep. (For Internships, the entire cost is non-refundable)
In addition to Guide Training, there are a handful of other requirements we would like you to be aware of: All new guides are required to have a mobile phone for emergency use during tours.
